The Fruit of the Spirit is a list which most Christians are familiar with. Jesus made it clear that believers are to bear fruit. But, how is this to happen? Do we have to work hard to produce it? Sometimes it can seem overwhelming.

In this Fruit of the Spirit Bible study, I look at:

• why God put this list into the book of Galatians

• who the Holy Spirit is and how He functions

• what is so special about ‘”fruit”

• the Fruit of the Spirit itself.

There’s a reason why the Holy Spirit inspired Paul to insert this list into his letter to the Galatians. I devote one chapter looking at this reason.

It is so easy to forget who the Person is that walks with us each and every day. How much do we really know about Him and His role in our lives? The Holy Spirit is the most precious gift that the Father could have given to us. Let’s get to know Him and all the wonderful attributes He possesses!

I could not resist writing a book about the Fruit of the Spirit without finding out if there is a reason why God uses the word “fruit.” Why not vegetables? It seems silly to even ask that, but you’d be surprised how many parallels there are between physical fruit and what is needed for the tree to produce it, and the Fruit of the Spirit. Interesting stuff!

I didn’t know how indepth each fruit was until I began studying it and writing about it. Each segment, love, patience, faith, and the rest, is interconnected with each other. There is no separating the one from the other. It is the most beautiful description of what a believer of Jesus Christ should look like.

If you’re longing to be more like Christ and be a light to this dark world, then Walking in the Spirit is a must for anyone who truly wants to grow in the Lord.
