This author doesn’t believe religious writing ought to be uninteresting and boring, especially when it speaks about Christian joy. Joy is an attitude that considers the world a way station where laughter and sorrow combine on the way to eternity. Joy is a bond between the Savior and the redeemed; a way of life. The miracle of joy is an on-going, living crusade on the part of the Holy Spirit in you. With such joy the only restrictions are those you impose on yourself. A destitute beggar can rejoice in the riches of God’s grace. A cancer sufferer can anticipate singing soprano or tenor in a heavenly choir. If God didn’t want us to be joyful, why did he give us a Bethlehem and a cross stained with Jesus’ blood? There’s nothing humdrum about living a life of joy in the Lord. Unbridled joy can be a fountain in your heart, not because of what you are, but because of what he has made you.
