When I met Sayid, I had just moved across the state to begin a new life. Everything about Seattle had me in awe, and was terrifying at the same time. I was left brokenhearted after my divorce, certain all marriages were doomed to end the same way. In turn, I wanted space and freedom, rather atypical of the relationships I had come to know. I needed something to give me hope that in this new place, on my own, I was going make it.
