For over forty years David worked as a cameraman, starting his career when magnetic sound recording replaced optical sound.
His early years were spent in shooting commercials before moving out to Africa to work for the Zambian government.
On his return to England David spent the next 30 years working as a freelance, mainly for the BBC.
His stories are often funny and thought provoking, recalling a career that probably would have been impossible had it started today.
In 1962 there were between 100 and 200 cameramen working in England –today there are many thousands.
