You might have noticed we’ve revised our advertising page. Unfortunately, while the new server is wonderful and fast and many other good things, it is also cutting into club funds and the site needs to pay for its hosting. As we don’t accept pay for reviews, and we don’t use affiliate links for books, we’ve had to look for other options.
We’ve removed Adsense because it was serving ads not relevant to our readers. Then it started to serve animated ads and ads with sound which we found annoying and when it comes down to it, it’s our site. Ideally we’d like book or reading related ads – they’d certainly be more relevant.
At the moment we have the Sponsor Slot and ads from Project Wonderful. We have also, as of last Saturday, got a new system installed so authors and publishers can buy adspace directly through Paypal – the space which currently appears as the Amazon blocks in the sidebar.
Ideally we’d like to find a network to handle all this for us (and remove the nightmare that is VATMOSS), so if anyone knows a book advertising network, please let us know so we can get back to reading books. There are 33 requests currently on the review queue – just remember, authors, the way to the front is to submit your book to the site before asking!
