...An excellent, and well-illustrated non-fiction book about bees for very young children....

A simple book to describe to a very young child what bees are, what they do and that they sting.

Every page is in full colour, with some lovely illustrations for children. The text is simple, to the point, with simple vocabulary and rhymes to keep a child’s attention. There are some activities in the back that give children more to do with the book.

Like many board books on ebook, it has sizing issues. The pages are full-screen and do not permit resizing in the Cloud Reader. The text is part of the images and likewise does not resize, but it is large enough to be easy to read on all but very small screens.

The story is perfect and easy to follow, ideal to read with parents or as a “my first reader” for children in play school or primary school. The images are entertaining and I loved the bee with a straw. It covers everything very young children need to know about bees, simply and in a way they can understand it, from stinging, to pollination, to hives. There are no spelling errors, and the rhyming scheme may be off, but it is ideal to keep children reading.

I caught no spelling errors, or grammar errors that weren’t accounted for by the very basic style of writing.

Five stars. Highly recommended to parents who want their children to learn about nature, and to any other parents who just want a good read for their children. An excellent children’s book.
