......A great short, fast, and twisted tale for crime and police procedural readers.......

A police sergeant is found dead in the street, shot three times, the night his partner called in mysteriously sick. Detectives Flynn, Homicide, and Levy, Internal Affairs, are left to investigate a case where everyone has a motive, means and opportunity.

Cop Shot is short, but tightly written and packs a lot of twists and turns into the length. The middle section has a wonderfully confusing game of cat-and-mouse, where the reader isn’t sure who is the cat, and the final twist once the parties compare notes is nicely done.

This is definitely not for children or younger teens, featuring adult material and a look into the very seedy side of life. However it doesn’t glamourise it in the slightest. The cops are just doing their jobs, and so is everyone else.

As a detective story where I couldn’t tell whodunnit in the first two pages, this was a highly enjoyable read. It is short, and readers will go through it in about 30 minutes, but this makes it an ideal commute or lunchbreak read. This only problem could be in resisting the temptation to go back to the first page and read it again.

A great short, fast, and twisted tale for crime and police procedural readers.
