...This could be a great book for the right reader, but unfortunately that reader is not me....
For some reason, I could not get into this book. I am not sure why, whether it was because the writing style was not for me, or because of the narrative style of jumping character to character between chapters, but I quickly found myself skimming it and did not finish. It would be unfair to review it, although I will provide an overview.
The writing is mainly composed of short stattaco sentences, and the story is written from a close third person point of view. A few of my pet peeves do occur, specifically contractions in non-spoken text, and multiple successive sentences starting with the same word (up to four).
Formatting is average, and speech is not always placed on a new line and indented. Thought and speech are indicated the same way, which I found a little confusing.
This could be a great book for the right reader, but unfortunately that reader is not me. To other readers, I would suggest giving it a fair shake by checking the “Look Inside” first to make up your own mind.
