A single poem, released as a free introduction to the poetry of Robert Zimmerman. Available on Wattpad and his blog, it is now on e-readers. While I would not pay for one poem, as a free piece it is a nice idea and I am rating it assuming it remains free.

Written in short lines and irregular stanzas without rhymes, the poem focuses on the way poets use words to convey meaning. It contrasts the innate inadequacy of words as a tool of communication with the pictures a poet can paint in the reader’s imagination through combinations of them. Superficially about a poet’s difficulty in describing a snowy field, readers can also find the themes of relationships with readers, meaning and communication, and the desire of the writer to share ideas, impressions, and images, through a limited written medium.

It is a very short work, but one that will resonate with most writers, and readers. For writers, I would have to say it is less likely to be a new idea, instead provoking a knowing nod. While it is short it is worth a read, particularly if you are looking for a sample or introduction to this poet’s writing, although it is hard to judge a poet by only one work.

I enjoy some shorted reads, and I am trying to go back and think if this is an author that I know a lot about, or if it is someone who is new to me. That name sounds so familiar, but it is also one of those names that might do that and trick you. I am interested now, though, so thanks.

Great review. This is definitely one that I have to try out. Thanks for sharing it.
