In the third book in the Teddy Defenders trilogy, Ari, Mia, and Brutas discover that teddy bear pirates are trying to ruin Christmas and take over the human world. They’re taking all the new teddy bears from stockings and beneath trees, raising an army of these bears, and searching for a treasure that will give them immense power.

It’s up to Ari and his friends to find this treasure before the pirates do, rescue Christmas, and save the world.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW:

Q: Why did you write this book?

JS: I’ve always loved chapter books and the fun adventure of that sort of young reader book. They allow for so much more excitement and silliness! I also love what Pixar and Disney have done with taking stories for children and making them enjoyable for children and adults, so I sat down to write a story like this, one with real heart but also teddy bears saving the world from pirates. It’s a story about toys coming to life, like Toy Story, but it’s also about the love of family and friendship, like… pretty much every Pixar movie.

Q: Why did you choose to make this one a Christmas story?

JS: Actually, each book in the Teddy Defender series takes place on a holiday. Book 1 is a Thanksgiving story, the short story that serves as a sequel is a Halloween story (yes, a year later), and now I wanted to tell a story that takes place on my favorite holiday, Christmas.

Q: This is the third book in the Teddy Defender Series. What’s next?

JS: I actually hope to write more books in this series, and have some ideas – maybe some teddy bear ninja stories? Teddy bears in ancient Egypt? The ideas (and potential for craziness) are endless!
