...An entertaining, enjoyable and above all well-written read for children of all ages, that will keep them quiet for hours....

This selection of seven Christmas stories about animals is sweet, heart-warming, and entertaining. From two Trafalgar square pigeons who decide to spend Christmas in the country, a vegetarian alligator who gets adopted for Christmas, and a cat who has to save Christmas for his owners and all their pets, these are imaginative, sometimes funny and deal for children to read or have read to them.

It is remarkably well-presented, and each story begins with a full-page colour illustration. There were no typos or grammar issues with this book, although there is one slight quirk to the formatting – it has a fixed font size and limited page width on the Kindle for PC, making it look like actual book pages, but which might make it harder for young children or grandparents with sight issues to read. I’m not knocking points off for this because the overall presentation is still very good.

An entertaining, enjoyable and above all well-written read for children of all ages, that will keep them quiet for hours. I’d personally suggest it after Christmas lunch!

  • Escape from Cold Ditch
Sly humour, in-jokes, sometimes dark comedy, and a not entirely happy ending that makes this the type of children's book that will endure and a blend of sadness and humour that children will love.
  • How much is that Doggy?
How much is that Doggy? has a very unusual taken on the pet therapy premise, and a few remarkably touching moments.
  • Boy and the Very Lonely Pony
For the 4-6 age ranges, this is a lovely little book...with full colour illustrations reminiscent of The Snowman.
