Celibacy is a good thing (if this is what you want in life, or what you are sure God has expressly revealed to you as your lot in life), and singleness is not a curse. Instead, singleness is a season of life; one within which God builds in us (as we yield to Him) qualities that are essential for a successful marital union. But unpreparedness, and hence, questionable attitudes, can keep us on one spot for longer than necessary (and that’s if we ever move), as well as wreck our relationships to the point that our hopes of transitioning into matrimony get continuously deferred, until our hearts become sick. It was revealed to Abraham that his seed (Israel) was going to remain in captivity for 400 years, after which they would move on to the Promised Land; but Israel remained in season of captivity for 430 years, all because the deliverer (Moses) was not yet prepared to bear the burdens of the kind of relationship/responsibility God was going to entrust to him!
