I have lived for so long, so many lives, so many deaths and yet here I remain. Being immortal is not always a blessing; it is more often than not a curse. I can see the faces of all those who came into my life, friends, family, loved ones and even those I called enemy, littering the pathway of my life. They remain in my mind for eternity, these people who I have met, even after they have died. They are gone but I am not. My soul can never die, only my mortal body. That is my curse.
In this book I tell a tale of my life that I feel needs to be told. I was once a general in an army of warriors, men and women both, who were devoted to our great king. Devastated by the loss of that king, we struck out to try and find out who was responsible for that death only to be led on a journey that I was not expecting.
With the vast magic at my disposal, I was still unable to see the lies and deceit that surrounded me on all sides and too late I discovered the true nature of my enemy. It was then I had to take up arms and fight a battle to save this world we call home. With powerful allies and knowledge gained from living so many different lives, I was able to see the truth of the world and attempt to right the many wrongs done by those we thought we could trust, those we called gods.
The Book of Dragons is the first chapter in the story of those battles won and lost, of the struggles I faced as I came to terms with who I truly am and the real purpose behind my immortality. A time of discovery for me, a time of death for those who stood in my way, and a time of enlightenment for the many friends I made on that fateful journey.
I never considered myself a writer or author or even a very good story teller, indeed my style is probably one you may not have encountered before. You must understand, the words I write are memories of past lives I have lived and as such, they are not complete. I leave out many details that others might feel are important. To me the real important information is the emotions I felt, the feelings I had and the words that were spoken. These things I have done my very best to recall accurately and I do hope you will get a sense of who I am from them.
I have ever been a warrior first and foremost, above all things I crave the clash of steel on steel, of battle, of victory over those that stand in my way. I do my best to put honor first and personal gain last. As you read this book you will come to see just how powerful I am, and yet, I never use that power to make myself a king, an emperor or a god. I never wanted this power, I never asked to be what I am and yet I am not able to change that fate. I did try, I did all I could to end my curse but it is just not possible as I found out. I am who I am and shall always be, an immortal.
