Introducing CHINATOWN HAUNTING – A PARANORMAL THRILLER SERIES

Dark, Dangerous… Sensual

I’m Jasmine Huang. Five years ago, I was murdered in Beijing when I was twenty. I gave birth eight months later. I was haunted by not knowing who the real killer was and stalked my ex for years, finally winding up in Vancouver’s Chinatown when I discovered the truth. That allowed me comfort in leaving the natural world and I was en route to the Next Place when I heard my daughter Mei-Mei call me back to earth. She’s all that’s important to me and I will not leave unless she is with me.

In the first place I look is this old Chinaman ghost. This horny lech tells me I’m beautiful and wants me to help him. Ugh! I keep looking for Mei-Mei but find nothing but a fourteen-year-old hooker and her demon pimp. Surly, obnoxious, evil.

But I need these sick, twisted creatures to help me find Mei-Mei in this dangerous spiritual netherworld. I hate it.

About the Series

Urban fantasy, paranormal thriller that takes place in and around Vancouver’s colorful Chinatown. They are the stories of the sexy, gorgeous and very dead actress Jasmine Huang. Jasmine loves her daughter but she also has her own needs. She wants to find love or romance or even just a decent guy. Until she does, she has to juggle the dangers of the netherworld and the natural world.

Questions for the Author

Why did you choose Vancouver’s Chinatown as the prime setting?

Chinatown’s ghostly, beating heart is part of me. I was born there and am part of its past as well as its future. I’ve made films of Chinatown, written about it and know it in a way that only an insider can ”” from the clacking of mah johng tiles to the prancing of the lion dancers… to the hearts of spirits from a century ago.

What about the “Haunting?”

The Chinese have a long, rich history of the supernatural and paranormal. For most Chinese, the world is not simply black and white, living and dead, good and evil. Gods, demons, angels, other spirits, ancestors and more cohabit this world with us.

There are no rules to their behavior. Some can directly affect the lives of the living; some can’t – or won’t. Some can transform their appearances; some only wish they could. Some are kind, some are not. Some are capricious; others are on a mission. Some are solid, some you can stick your hand through… and for some, you can do both, depending on their moods.

In this world, there are no absolutes.

What order should I read the books in?

I recommend starting with Deadly Love, the first in the series, because it gives context to everything that follows. The rest of the stories are pretty well self-contained. Readers might also take a look at the companion series, Shadows Over Chinatown.
