When they let Kemper out of hospital, they told him not to move back in with his mother. The doctors thought she was the source of most of his problems. Provided he could stay away from her; he’d be well on his way to being cured. Ed knew they hadn’t cured him. As far as he was concerned, there hadn’t been anything wrong with him in the first place.
Still, he knew he had to convince them that he had been ill, and that he was better now, of he was going to get out. He had fooled the doctors, learned what they wanted to hear and then let them hear it. He had to get out. He had a plan.
