It is the story of a young man in that distant world. Mekaul was hunting a wild beast in the forest, when he met the old scholar traveling the lands and seeking the lost books of knowledge. They become friends and he decides to accompany him in his quest. He travels across the wild rivers, dark forests and snow clad mountains and deserts. They reaches the lush lands of Ashewara after crossing a waterless plain.

There he meets the living Goddess of that land; a beautiful and enigmatic young woman, who rules the land with a firm hand. He also meets her younger sister. She is a beautiful and lively young woman, and against his wishes he is embroiled in their intrigues. He is caught in a web of treachery and betrayals that imperil his life.
