A generational family saga that takes place during the turbulent years between 1939 and 2020, from the beginning of World War II to the onset of Covid-19. The tale begins in a small Maine town with eleven-year-old Tess Gidoux preparing her brother and sister for the last day of school before Christmas break and ends three thousand miles away in northern California with Tess’s son sheltered-in-place, alone and adjusting to life in the midst of a global pandemic. We are introduced to a New York nursing school and the UC Berkeley campus of the 1950’s and follow our characters through the Nuclear Age, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the JFK assassination, a heartbreaking personal tragedy, 9/11, and the struggles of day-to-day life; and we discover how that eleven-year-old overcomes all in Tess’s Triumph.
