The word “watcher” has been popularized in these years to refer to those faithfully obeying the command of Jesus to watch for His return. Though simple, staying awake is neither easy nor common. The command has been given to us all, yet few have the desire that burns in the watcher; yet is ridiculed by most the Christian communities, making even a watcher feel like an outcast among a people of outcasts (Christians).
What are we supposed to watch for? How do we watch? Can we be effective in the Great Commission while studying prophecy? After this book, you’ll know that righteousness is not separated by watching. Rather, the two are mutually compatible.
Sadly, and despite the Bible’s numerous warnings and last day prophecies about what to watch for, many people will be taken off guard when these events culminate (Lk. 21:8-11, 25-36; 1 Thess. 5:2-6; Rev. 6 – Rev. 18). Take heed to yourselves! Do not be blinded by the enemy of your soul so that you cannot see what to watch for, or how to be and stay watchful (Mt. 24:4-5, 11, 24; Lk. 21:8; 1 Cor. 6:9; 15:33; Gal. 6:7; Eph. 5:6; 2 Thess. 2:3).
Jesus will only catch the ones off guard like a thief for those who are sleeping spiritually, dead in sin, lukewarm, not sober, not enduring on the narrow path that’s not paved with sin, not continuing in holiness, not abiding in sound doctrine, not remaining in righteousness and truth, not watching. These are the ones who will be caught off guard when the Master comes. In their hearts they have said that their Master has delayed His Coming, so they are not fighting the desires of their flesh. They are not resisting the devil so he will flee. They are not taking their thoughts captive and following the Holy Spirit, because they believe they have time to repent later.
“The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him in pieces, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Mat. 24:50-51).
People will mock the warning signs of the end of the age saying, “These signs have always been around” (2 Pet. 3:3-4). As all prophecy watchers know, people are willfully blind to all the signs around them at an unprecedented level. It should be no wonder to us. If the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing (1 Cor.1:18), then it stands to reason that the Second Coming of Christ is even more absurd to the lost, which is most the world (Mat. 7:13-14; Luke 13:23-30). What is disturbing to the watchers is that most professing Christians also mock the times we live in and even the doctrines that make up the end-times.
In book 3 of the Millions Vanished series, you are given all the information you need to be a watcher. There is much more to learn and discover, so I challenge you to studying these subjects, going on to learn more in books 4-5.
