...It's vaguely amusing in places, but never laugh out loud funny,...
The auto-complete and suggest options on most websites now can produce some odd and sometimes hilarious responses, and this book is a collection of examples.
There are screen grabs of these responses throughout the book, but sadly these quickly become repetitive and very few are as funny as promised. The suggested options are initially linked with a quirky cast of characters, but then descends into the characters talking to each other, or contrived situations which their quotes could be used in.
There’s nothing here that you wouldn’t see every day on most search engines’ auto-complete, and the joke quickly wears out. This is a pity because the formatting and presentation is very good. The pictures of the auto-complete boxes are nicely centered, and don’t damage the text flow, which given the number of images is quite an achievement.
The problem is that I really don’t know who to recommend this to. It’s vaguely amusing in places, but never laugh out loud funny, and certainly not something I would pay for.
