Leaving her marriage behind after her husband's affair, newly divorced Elisabeth looks to recover in South Africa with her friend Patricia. Locally to her is the Burger Wine Estate where John, long term friend and original love of her life, works on his family vineyard, with the rest of his family. John's problem is that one of his Hotel Manager's has left suddenly leaving his current plans for the vineyard in jeopardy. But knowing Elisabeth is around, he invites her to take the role, which she is more than capable of. Elisabeth jumps at the chance not only to do something to help forget her worries, but also to re-unite with John and see if the spark that used to be there, still exists. John is more than delighted when she accepts and feeling the same way as her puts into motion a plan to show Elisabeth just how he feels. But things fall apart, when Elisabeth sees John with Diana, the family lawyer, and some expensive jewellery. Already hurt by one betrayal, she decides it is best to leave, while John is finally forced to reveal his true feelings.

This is a sweet, HEA romance, as part of a series about the Burger family and the sons in the family finding true love starting with the eldest son, John. The plot has a neat hook setting up the re-introduction of the old flames to each other. The story manages to pack in all you would expect in a full length romance, the meeting, the happy beginning, the sudden twist and misunderstanding followed by the ending, and does so neatly within it's few pages. I was surprised when I did reach the end, as I was expecting it to be much longer, but it had given me everything I was expecting, so it would be churlish to complain. Given the length of the book, it is no surprise the characters are only briefly fleshed out, with descriptions not appearing until a while through the book. But their wishes and desires are sweetly shown and they take the chance on each other that they missed so long ago. The author does an excellent job of describing the events going on and I found it easy to follow what was happening, even if the story is brief. Admittedly the character descriptions are as over the top as you might expect, but the scene setting does paint a wonderful picture of the area they are living in.

The book is well edited and easy to read, although the paragraphs are more spaced than expected, and the first two chapters could really have been rolled into one given that afterwards they swap between the two romantic leads. As an opening story, it also has the problem of setting the scene for the other brothers in the family, and the stories that are yet to come.

Overall, it does what it sets out to do and fans of a Romance HEA should certainly enjoy it, and the following books if they stay true to this one.
