Alice is thirty nine and never has any time for herself. She has been with her partner, Tommi, for fourteen years and they have a five year old son called Barney. She works full time, feels like a frumpy pack-horse and is exhausted by money worries. She can hardly remember ever being carefree and nowadays sex comes way behind reading and even ‘staring into space’ as one of her priorities.

Things begin to change for Alice when, having forgiven an affair Tommi had before Barney was born, she discovers that a honking, skinny blond from Tommi’s work has recently given Tommi much more than a peck on a cheek. Tommi claims it was a one-off indiscretion but it’s a step too far for Alice and she makes him go and stay with friends while she ‘sorts her head out’.

Living off Prosecco and adrenaline she begins to address just what has gone wrong – with her relationship, with her job and with motherhood. Is this really the ‘happily ever after’ everyone dreams of? Unfaithful man, missing her son because she’s always working and zero fun EVER?

That’s when she begins to live a little and everything turns on its head. Now it’s ALICE TIME and she is not going to waste a moment. You only live once and Alice wants to eat ice cream with her son in the posh ice-cream shop every day, paint her walls gaudy colours and kiss strangers for the hell of it. Or at least she thinks she does.

Soul searching, orgasms, bitchiness and emancipation. This is a modern tale for every woman out there who feels exhausted by life. Or invisible. You don’t have to put up with that, you can change it. Just ask Alice.
