IOSIS A GREEK ISLAND OFF CRETE AND SCENE OF A CONTINUUM BREACH

Following the death of her mother, Francesca is the lone occupant of the Greek island of Iosis. She was born on Iosis and never knew her father who apparently deserted her and her mother before she was born. In all that time since, her mother has never given up on his return over the 20 years since. He never did and on her death bed she asks Francesca to wait for him as long as she possible can. Francesca is indifferent believing her father to have left them alone all those years ago.

Francesca is Amazonian in build, beautiful in fact but for one thing. As a 4 year old she suffered burns to part of her face and the scars remain to this day, another reason why she is not too enthusiastic to leave Iosis.

Several months after her mother’s passing she is disturbed from her sleep by the sound of her agitated livestock outside and she investigates. Francesca discovers something strange a distance from her farm, a distortion in the atmosphere, charged with static electricity. As she observes the anomaly a man is ejected out of the bright white light, a man dressed like a Greek gladiator. His wounds are not bloody, rather they bleed a mystery golden liquid. Minutes after his unexpected appearance he is followed through by giant Minotaur. The battle continues between the two continues only Francesca helps the stranger and they manage between them to push the Minotaur back through the Continuum Breach.

The stranger is cared for by Francesca over the next few days while he remains unconscious recovering. Over the days that follow they become close and then intimate, despite her disfigurement. They eventually become lovers. The stranger, Nicholie a man of Olympian looks and stature, falls in love with her, but as a guardian of the Continuum plains where earth touches the plains of other worlds, he feels compelled to return.

Without the key that is attuned to his very soul, he cannot and Francesca does not want him to either. Little does he know that Francesca has the ring that opens the breach portal which he dropped in his battle with the Minotaur. On discovering that she has the key, they visit the plateau once more. Francesca is unwell, her tummy having become swollen over the last few days and is tired and weak. Nicholie has to carry her the last few hundred yards or so.

The key opens the doorway back to Nicholie’s world and Francesca tells him to return and leave her. He refuses and would rather she went with him. Francesca believes she will not survive the transition and it is then that Nicholie tells her of her true origins and that of her father, a man from his home world, a previous visitor to Iosis and probably the reason why her mother would never leave. He asks her to trust him and breaks the skin on the palm of her hand with his knife and she bleeds the same golden liquid that he did. It is then that he tells her that her mystery condition is she is pregnant. On his home world the pregnancy period is days, not months and she is about to give birth.

The only objection Francesca has left is that of her looks and how she would not want to meet her father scarred and disfigured. During their final embrace, Nicholie touches her scarred face having spread a salve on it from his home world without her knowing. It’s a salve he has used previously to almost instantaneously heal his wounds that were caused by the minotaur. To her astonishment the scarring has vanished in seconds. Nicholie sweeps his love into his arms and he walks into the light at the center of the breach carrying her. The doorway closes behind them, leaving the island of Iosis with a human population of zero.
